The Opportunity

Lead this luxury landmark hotel through its pre-opening phase and into successful ongoing operations.

Take overall responsibility for the property’s leadership, culture, guest experience, financial performance and operational success.

Act as the custodian of the brand, ensuring every guest interaction is warm, authentic and thoughtfully personalised.

Build and inspire a high-performing team that proudly brings the hotel's vision to life.

Key Responsibilities

• Take a hands-on leadship role in the pre-opening program, operational mobilisation and transition into full operation.
• Establish operating standards, policies, procedures, service frameworks and departmental plans.
• Develop the organisational structure and recruit, onboard and mentor the executive leadership team and broader workforce.
• Oversee operational readiness, including technology, suppliers, training, service rehearsals and opening preparations.
• Deliver intuitive, highly personalised and memorable guest experiences across every touchpoint.
• Maintain a visible and hands-on presence with guests, team members and key stakeholders.
• Oversee all hotel operations, including Guest Experience, Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, Spa and Wellness, Events, Engineering and support functions.
• Build a positive workplace culture based on respect, accountability, collaboration, development and recognition.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, revenue management, cost control and operational performance reviews.
• Identify opportunities to grow revenue across accommodation, dining, wellness, events and guest experiences.
• Provide accurate reporting and strategic recommendations to the Managing Director and ownership group.
• Represent the hotel brand with investors, tourism bodies, suppliers, industry partners and the Hunter Valley community.
• Continually improve the guest journey and operating model ahead of and in response to emerging luxury hospitality trends.

Skills & Experience

• Minimum five years’ experience as General Manager of a luxury or ultra-luxury boutique hotel or resort with fewer than 80 rooms.
• Demonstrated hotel pre-opening, mobilisation or major operational transition experience.
• Strong leadership experience across all major hotel departments, particularly Food and Beverage.
• Proven ability to recruit, develop and inspire high-performing leadership teams.
• Strong commercial capability across budgeting, forecasting, revenue, profitability and cost control.
• Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, judgement and emotional intelligence.
• Experience creating personalised luxury guest experiences.
• Confidence using modern hotel technology and property management systems.
• International luxury hospitality or integrated destination resort experience will be highly regarded.
• Experience with the Agilysys Property Management System will be advantageous.
